A. Clear Target: I can explain the similarities and differences between the Italian city-states. I will know that I have it when I can complete a notes questionnaire over the city-states with at least 80% accuracy.

D. Vocabulary: TTW review the clear target with the students ensuring understanding of the new terms (if any) and then lead a discussion on the bell ringer to ensure that the students understand the information in the lesson from the class prior.
E. Presentation of New Material: This is a 2 day lesson
1. Day 1: TSW take notes on a lecture over the Italian States, then complete the Italian City-States map, and Applying Economics to History DBQ from the Basket of Goodness 2.
2. Day 2: TSW finish the lesson’s notes, complete the DBQ on the Birth of the Renaissance, and complete The Medici: Ruling Behind the Scenes DBQ in The Basket of Goodness 2.
3. Early Finishers: If groups get done prior to the end date/time of the activity, they will play a Gimkit. Here is the link to the Renaissance Gimkit
