Unit 2, The Ottoman and Delhi Empires, Lesson 1: Retest/Pretest

I.  Standard(s): HS.WH.CH.1 Analyze the rise and fall of major states and empires in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas between 1300-1500.

HS.WH.CE.1 Examine effects of the movement of people, cultures, goods, diseases and technologies through established systems of connection, including the Silk Roads, Trans Saharan Trade Routes and Indian Ocean Maritime System between 1300-1450.

HS.WH.CO.1 Assess how inter- and intra-regional interactions shaped the development of empires and cultures in multiple global regions between 1300-1750.

HS.WH.CH.2 Explain continuities and changes within the religion, ideology, science and arts of empires and nation-states in multiple global regions between 1300-1750.

HS.WH.CH.3 Analyze changes and continuities within and among the Indian Ocean Maritime System, Trans-Saharan System and Silk Roads due to technology and the opening of the Atlantic System between 1300-1750.

HS.G.MM.2 Evaluate reasons for the spatial distribution of human populations at different scales on Earth’s surface.

HS.WH.CH.1 Analyze the rise and fall of major states and empires in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas between 1300-1500.

     A.  Clear Target: I can demonstrate an understanding of all of the unit one standards, and a general knowledge of the unit 2 standards.  I will know that I have them when I can complete a Quizlet test on each with a 100% and a 70% respectively.

     B.  Set/Interest Cue: TTW tell some jokes, or ask some riddles to the students in order to get their brains ready for learning.

     C.  Bell Ringer: TSW write the question and the answer in their notebooks at the end of their unit one notes and keep it: What empire that we studied in unit one had the most impact on the world at the time and why?

     D.  Vocabulary: TTW review the clear target with the students ensuring understanding of the new terms (if any) and then lead a discussion on the bell ringer to ensure that the students understand the information in the lesson from the class prior.

     E.  Presentation of New Material: Retest/Pretest

1. 1. 1. TS that achieved a 110 or higher on the test will complete an all multiple choice Quizlet test on the Ottoman Empire with all of the questions.  TS must achieve a 70% or higher on this test and show it to the instructor.  Once they have achieved this goal they are to remain in Quizlet and complete a test on the Civics Constitution Review with the same parameters as above.
      2. TS that achieved less than a 110 on the test will complete an all multiple choice Quizlet test on Unit One African and Asian Empires with all of the questions.  TS must achieve a 100% on this test and show it to the instructor.  Once they have achieved this goal they are to remain in Quizlet and complete a test on the Civics Constitution Review with the same parameters as above.
      3. TSW have the entire class period and as many attempts as they can get during the class period to complete their test with the specified score.
      4. Students that achieve their goal and show the teacher prior to the end of the class period will receive bonus points.

     E. Presentación de Nuevo Material: Nueva prueba/prueba previa

1. 1. TS que obtuvo un 110 o más en la prueba completará una prueba Quizlet de opción múltiple sobre el Imperio Otomano con todas las preguntas.  TS debe alcanzar un 70% o más en esta prueba y mostrárselo al instructor.  Una vez que hayan logrado este objetivo, deberán permanecer en Quizlet y completar una prueba de Revisión de la Constitución Cívica con los mismos parámetros anteriores.
   2. Los TS que obtuvieron menos de 110 en la prueba completarán una prueba Quizlet de opción múltiple sobre la Unidad Uno, Imperios africanos y asiáticos, con todas las preguntas.  TS debe lograr un 100% en esta prueba y mostrárselo al instructor.  Una vez que hayan logrado este objetivo, deberán permanecer en Quizlet y completar una prueba de Revisión de la Constitución Cívica con los mismos parámetros anteriores.
   3. TSW tiene todo el período de clase y tantos intentos como pueda durante el período de clase para completar su examen con la puntuación especificada.
   4. Los estudiantes que logren su objetivo y se lo muestren al maestro antes del final del período de clase recibirán puntos de bonificación.
   5. Los estudiantes también pueden ver el video de la conferencia si estuvieron ausentes, necesitan verificar o simplemente completar sus notas yendo a Edpuzzle durante su período de clase.

     F.  Guided Practice: TTW ask a student to summarize the information from the day’s lesson.  TTW give clues and have other students help as necessary.  TTW have a student answer the first question on the Independent practice and help them to ensure understanding of the question, and the assignment.
