Unit 5, Ancient India, Lesson 9: Study Guide

Note:  TTW= The Teacher Will; TSW= The Students Will; GCR= Google Classroom 

I.  Standard(s):  Unit 5: 6.25-6.30

     A.  Clear Target:  I can demonstrate mastery of all of the Unit 5 standards by showing an understanding of: The Key leaders; the important religions, their histories and impacts; and achievements.

     B.   Set: TTW lead a discussion on the clear target and or bell ringer to ensure that the students understand it/them.  TTW lead a discussion on the assignment from the day before to ensure understanding.  

     C. Bell Ringer:

          1.  Question: Why do you think that Asoka has such success in converting people to Buddhism?

          2.  Review:  After the class has answered the question to the best of their ability, TTW assess if there needs to be a review of the previous day’s lesson.  If a review is needed, TTW have the students get out their notes and will review the material with them.  If no review is needed TTW have the students get ready for today’s lesson. 

     D.  Presentation of New Material: TSW work on their study guide in preparation for the upcoming unit test.

          3.  Simulation:  N/A

     E.  Guided Practice: TTW demonstrate for the students how to: Find and open the document; use the document; turn in the document when completed.  TTW have a student share their screen and demonstrate all of the steps.  TTW assist, and have the class assist the student demonstrator with answering the first question.

    F.  Independent Practice (The assignments are due the next school day):  Using their notes packet and knowledge from the lessons, TSW complete a study guide over the unit.

     G.  Closure: Remind the students that the study guide must be completed before the next class so that they can work on the breakout game.
