I. Standard(s): 6.20: Identify and locate geographical features of ancient Israel, Including: The Dead Sea; Jerusalem; Jordan River; Mediterranean Sea; Red Sea; and the Sinai Peninsula.
A. Clear Target: I can identify and locate the major geographical features of ancient Israel and explain their significance to ancient Israel.
B. Bell Ringer:
1. Question: Who were the major figures of Jerusalem?
2. Previous Day’s Clear Target: I can demonstrate a general understanding of ancient Israel’s geography, religion, culture, and main historical figures.
a. Review: After the class has answered the question to the best of their ability, TTW assess if there needs to be a review of the previous day’s lesson. If a review is needed, TTW have the students get out their notes and will review the material with them.
b. If no review is needed TTW have the students get ready for today’s lesson.
C. Set: TTW lead a discussion on the clear target and or bell ringer to ensure that the students understand it/them and the previous day’s lesson.
D. Presentation of New Material: TSW participate in the Geography of Ancient Israel presentation. The students will also use Google Earth to discover Israel’s geography for themselves. Here is the Haastyle History video.

E. Guided Practice: TTW show the students how to get to the day’s presentation of new material and independent practice; and explain what they are doing to complete the day’s lesson. TTW then choose a student at random to perform the same tasks.
F. Independent Practice (The assignments are due the next school day unless otherwise stated): TSW complete the interactive mapping activity worksheets and questions from the Haastyle History presentation and Google Earth. Here is the link to the Interactive presentation that has the links to Google Earth in it. TSW select the link below to open the presentation. TSW then put the presentation into “Present Mode” so that they can use the links to Google Earth. The “Present” button is in the top right corner of the presentation screen. Interactive Presentation.
G. Closure: TSW be able to answer the following question(s) in the next day’s class discussion: What is one thing that you learned about Ancient Israel?
