Unit 3, Ancient Egypt; Lesson 2: Overview of Ancient Egypt

Note:  TTW= The Teacher Will; TSW= The Students Will; GCR= Google Classroom 

I.  Standard(s):  6.13-6.19: 

     A.  Clear Target:  I can demonstrate a general understanding of:  The Egyptian society; why it was able to form; its government; and culture

     B. Set: TTW tell some jokes to get everyone into the learning mood, and lead a discussion on the clear target and or bell ringer to ensure that the students understand it/them.

     C.  Bell Ringer:

          1.  Question: TSW answer the following question on their own paper: What is something that you can tell me about ancient Mesopotamia?

          2.  Review:  TTW lead a discussion on the previous day’s lesson.  TSW answer questions about the lesson. After the class has answered the question to the best of their ability, TTW assess if there needs to be a review of the previous day’s lesson.  If a review is needed, TTW have the students get out their notes and will review the material with them. If no review is needed TTW have the students get ready for today’s lesson.

     D.  Presentation of New Material:  TSW watch and complete an EdPuzzle over Ancient Egypt as an overview.  TSW watch it as many times as it takes to master the information. To get to the EdPuzzle, TSW go to EdPuzzle via Class Link and select “Ancient Egypt Overview” from their class list of videos in the assignments section.

          2.  Video in Video N/A

          3.  Simulation:  N/A

     E.  Guided Practice: TTW demonstrate for the students how to: Find and open the document; use the document; turn in the document when completed.  TTW have a student share their screen and demonstrate all of the steps.  TTW assist, and have the class assist the student demonstrator with answering the first question.

    F.  Independent Practice (The assignments are due the next school day unless otherwise stated):  TSW complete the EdPuzzle from the Presentation of New Material section above.

     G.  Closure: TSW be able to answer questions in the next class’ discussion over the Geography EdPuzzle.

     H.  Assessment:  Question and answer/Discussions/The guided practice/Closure discussion/Quiz if used/ Exit Ticket if used;
