Unit 2, Ancient Mesopotamia; Lesson 8: Review

Note:  TTW= The Teacher Will; TSW= The Students Will; GCR= Google Classroom 

I.  Standard(s):  All 

     A.  Clear Target:   I can demonstrate an understanding of:  The Ancient Mesopotamian society; its rulers, laws, Government systems; advancements; and religion

     B.  Set: TTW tell some jokes to get everyone in the learning mindset.  TTW also review the classroom/school rules, clear target and discuss the bell ringer.

     C.  Bell Ringer:  Why is the Epic of Gilgamesh significant to us today?

1. Discussion:  TTW hold a discussion with TS over the bell ringer to ensure understanding.

2. Review:  If TS do not understand the bell ringer enough to properly answer the question, TTW hold a review over the previous day’s lesson.  If no review is needed, TTW have TS prepare for the day’s lesson.

     D.  Presentation of New Material:  N/A

          1.  Checks For Understanding (CFU):  Answers to the teacher led discussions from above.

          2.  Video in Video N/A

          3.  Simulation:  N/A

     E.  Guided Practice: TTW demonstrate for the students how to find the lesson for the day, and find the materials to complete the lesson.  TTW have a student share their screen and demonstrate all of the steps.  TTW assist, and have the class assist the student demonstrator with answering the first question.

    F.  Independent Practice (The assignments are due the next school day): TSW complete a study guide over unit two.  The study guide will be placed into the students’ 3 ring binder notebooks and turned in as part of their note book grade for unit two.  Here is a link to the study guide that TS can print out if they lose their copy, or if they are absent.  Study Guide Link.

     G.  Closure: TTW check to see if TS have any questions about the material on the study guide.

     H. Assessment:  Bell Ringer Question and answer/Discussions/The Study Guide
