Note: TTW= The Teacher Will; TSW= The Students Will; GCR= Google Classroom
I. Standard(s): Unit 3 Standards 6.13-6.19
A. Clear Target: I can demonstrate my understanding of ancient Egypt by completing the re-test with at least a 100%
B. Bell Ringer: TSW open their laptops. If they earned less than an 80% on their Unit 3 test, they are taking the retest. TSW check PowerSchool to see their grades so that they know what tests they are taking.
C. Set: TTW lead a discussion on the clear target and or bell ringer to ensure that the students understand it/them and try to peak the students’ interest in the topic of the day.
D. Presentation of New Material: Any student that did not attain a score of 80% or higher on the Unit three test must take the retest. The students will use Google to find the: Accomplishments of Ancient Egypt; What the Nile river meant to the Ancient Egyptians; and The Key Leaders (Khufu, Hatshepsut, Tutankhamun, and Ramses II). On their own paper the students will write a three sentence paragraph about each of the items (including a paragraph for each key leader). After the students complete the retest, they will complete the Ancient Israel WebQuest. Any student that received an 80% or higher on the unit test will complete the Ancient Israel WebQuest.
3. Lecture Questions: N/A
E. Guided Practice: TTW show the students how to get to and use Quizlet. TTW also show the students how to set up the test in Quizlet and explain what they are doing to complete the day’s lesson. TTW then choose a student at random to perform the same tasks.
F. Independent Practice (The assignments are due the next school day unless otherwise stated):
1. TSW complete the retest if they did not receive an 80% or higher on the last unit test. Then they will move to number 2 below and complete that assignment.
2. TSW complete the Ancient Israel WebQuest. Students that received an 80% or higher will start this immediately. Students that received less than an 80% will complete this after the retest.
G. Closure: TSW be able to answer the following question(s) in the next day’s class discussion: What is something that you learned about early humans from the Quizlet activity?
